Touching moments, inspiring and motivating

Always hear people say 'Happiness spreads'. But perhaps, sadness spreads even faster...

A friend 'sensed' my sadness online. Cant believe it's true.

It is a mistake I have been committing every now and then. It seems like I haven't learnt from past mistakes. Perhaps, sub-consciously, I don't reckon it as a mistake. So I haven't change. And I have yet to know I will change, or not.

I think the so-called mistake is a bit exaggerated by certain quarters. But what to do, I have to follow. I do think it's no very big deal.

It does happen to us occasionally, just don't make it a frequent happening. (just ignore this line, you probably can't get it)

I was labelled 'xxxxxx'. Called 'xxxxxx'.

And it does make my heart ache.

Anyway, I will consider again. Ponder on my so-called mistake. Perhaps, change a bit.

Still in a bewildering mode.

And that's why I blog. Coz blogging is a very good outlet to express your feelings.

Bad mood go away!

I guess it will heal very fast.

PS: Pls don't think you are the one mentioned in this blog post. Coz the people involved doesn't even know my blog. Ganbatte!!

Graduating from KB for the 2nd time

This is the second time I graduated from SMK Kepong Baru.

During graduation day, I cried.

Mr Ong said before, "The constants in life change."  And our Form 6 representative during graduation day, Jonathan, quoted him. He's right. Things change. And I hope it's for the better. What Jon said touched me, I guess. But I do hope the friendship that has lasted so long remains.

I hope in future, we still talk, joke, play and get together as one like we used to do in these 2 years.

I made my last MUET presentation about Love of God and friendship. I remember saying this in the presentation: Mr Tiong (our MUET teacher) said there's no absolute truth on earth. But he is partly right. There's no absolute truth except in the saying "A friend in need is a friend indeed".

No doubt, I think friendship made in Form 6 is very great. We experienced things together. We helped each other during the climb uphill in Bukit Larut, and overcame our scare together. We believed in hopes together in times of despair and eventually we saw lights in the dark. We did overcome obstacles after obstacles together.

I ain't sure why but I do have many feelings for Form 6. I did feel reluctant having to part with a big group of friends, not only friends of 6A1, but also others including juniors, teachers and every one I know in KB.

During the day before graduation, the 6A1 students didn't have the mood to study. We chatted about weddings and wrote our email address and contact number on the board. We promised to keep in touch with each other. Please remember the promise, my friends.

We said we will give RM 500 as angpau for the first who gets married. Hopefully I won't break this promise, because being able to give an angpau of RM500 means you are rich! Or perhaps, I am the one receiving angpaus of RM500.

More importantly, we said we will invite our classmates for our wedding. Do remember this promise too!

We may not meet each other every day, like we used to. But this doesn't mean the friendship is fading away. It's not seeing friends that matters in keeping friendship alive, it's remembering friends in our heart that counts.

PS: Never struggle through obstacles in life, but smile your way through.

This while, I get interested in playing with words and coming up with some meaningful sentences. I usually put those sentences as my MSN display message. Anyway, those messages are quite meaningful and thought-provoking, hopefully it may inspire you.

Every one of us dreams of possessing this thing called 'happiness'. Some think they can only be happy after they get to the peak, others enjoy the process and get happy through the journey. Well, let's see....

If happiness could be formulated, I want to be the one to discover the formula. But we all know it very well that this formula cannot be devised. It varies from one to another.

In fact, the formula to being happy has long existed, yet is hidden in our heart.

We ourselves are the formula.

It's not that tough to be happy and stay happy.

Open up your heart and look around. Happiness is always in the air, if we feel it with all our heart and soul.

A chipped glass does not seem to be chipped if we look at it from another angle.

Just change our perception, and we will see before us a whole new world.

No matter how happy or sorrow we feel, life remains there to live. So, why not live life happily? Take on whatever challenge there is in life with a smile from the bottom of our heart, and we will smile and shine through adversity.

While you are reading the following, do listen to this song.

Some scribbles....

It's 2009!

My first blog post in this new year....

Well, it's very true that a piece of good work needs inspirations. I guess it's the same with blogging. I was actually looking for the feelings of blogging and some inspirations before I started writing this post.

One of my ways to search for thought-provoking ideas is by listening to music. These days, I listen to music quite always. Perhaps, without me knowing it, music has become a part of my life.

Now, I don't listen only to Jay Chou's songs, but I start varying the music that I enjoy. These are the few songs I like:

走火入魔 by 阿信, 叮当

Inside Your Heaven by Carrie Underwood

Try listening to the second song. A nice one.

I always feel soothed and relaxed when listening to these songs. The feeling is like my heart and soul being touched and gripped by a sense of calmness and serenity. Sometimes, a tinge of sadness mingles in the heart too.

When I feel unhappy, those songs can heal, or hurt me even more deeply. Yet, I always go on listening to those songs, without any good reasons to do so. People say all our emotions and feelings are governed by the actions of chemicals like hormones and neurotransmitters in our body. That's absolutely true. However, do you want to control our emotions artificially using chemical injections? Do we want to stop the natural control of our feelings. If we use chemical to control everything from our illnesses to even our feelings and intelligence, is there any difference then, between humans and robots, except that we are made of real flesh while they are created from metals? Or should we label ourselves as robotic humans? Science has got explanations and theories for thousands and thousands of things. But these theories are not necessary to put to practice.

Theories are not discovered to be misused. Inventions are not created to be abused. Just like the case of discovering radioactivity. People misuse it in atomic and nuclear bomb. Is this the things and effects we want to see from the advancement of technology? Is this the way things should be? What has become of the world we are living in? The environment is bad, the people are not as good as the previous generations are.

We don't have the power to turn back clock, but we can always make a U-turn and head back to the right tracks in life. You can get diverted from the mainstream, but don't get off what you think is right in your heart and soul.

Well, I am sorry to have written so many things. These come out from a sudden thought of mine. Perhaps, this is the good thing about blogging. You can 'type' your thought freely.

Upper 6 life is getting busier. I had been very much on the go weeks ago finishing our group assignment. That's the first time I truly felt the hectic life in Form 6. It's like facing waves of tsunami that time. I stayed up till 1.30am in my friend's house to complete the assignment. I fell sick and still attended school, because I didn't want to miss classes. I joked to keep my spirits up, talked nonsense so as to alleviate the uncomfortable feelings, and laughed to get rid of sleepiness. Yet, some said I have taken steroids. Well, I have got no comment on that.

Be life-confident. That's what our MUET teacher told us. Be confident in what we undertake. No doubt, confidence is the element that we need in order to bring the best out of us. To build confidence, first feel confident, and think of being confident. This brings us to the law of attraction. If you think you can, you are generating a frequency saying 'I CAN' to the cosmic universe. The frequency is then amplified and transmitted back to you. And you will manage to do what you wanna do.

Though life is hectic now, this is the opportunity for me to learn and pick up skills. It's the time to train my endurance, sharpen my abilities and polish my skills. It's a challenge to embrace. A challenge to take. And I would say, "Let's get down to it. Bring it on!" I will come through this challenge, be a better man, hold my head high and realise my dreams.

Because I believe, I achieve!

PS: Be life-confident! Be the only one! Just do it!

Be happy!

These few days, I got stuck in some problems. Those problems outwitted me before this. I was totally confused and puzzled in my own thinking. Perhaps, it's simply because I think too much. And I have been quite bored these days at home. My mind was thus occupied by unnecessary and complicating thoughts.

I was quite upset and feeling down these few days, especially yesterday. I can't get myself out of the bewilderment set by my own self. I was completely blank and clueless. CLUELESS!

But, today I have been able to untie the knot in my heart. I am off all those puzzles. I am free from all those stuff. haha... I am really glad to blog about this. I do want to shout out loud, laugh out loud and do everything a happy man will do. The feeling is so good and different from my feelings yesterday.

It's after I played basketball with my 5K classmates that I realised this "happiness". In fact, it's very simple to be happy. Just --------- BE HAPPY!!!

:)
:P
^^

The key to being happy is to think happy and be happy.

Your emotions and feelings are largely governed by your thinking. So, do not think about the things that upset you. Look back on some cheerful events and the fun you ever had. Look for something to do and be focused on the task.

We want to turn grief to joy, frowns to smiles and cry to laughter. But it depends on us to do that. So, get up and move on happily.

There are many other meaningful questions for us to ponder on. Why spoil our day by thinking of those problems. Especially for teenagers, we tend to reflect on the relationship with our friends over and over again. Or perhaps, some will consider their love problems. Don't think too much, the best solution is to work it out (but only after a little bit of consideration on the way to handle the problem...haha).

Listen to some cheerful songs when feeling down.

The following song for example:

Here's a saying: "If a problem can be solved, then don't worry about it; if a problem can't be solved, what's the use of worrying?"

No doubt, we often worry as long as we haven't worked out a problem. That's very normal. But, try not to get too worried of it. Instead of uselessly consuming energy on worrying, why not utilise our energy to think about the solution and do some prayers, so that the problems can be fixed well? Do remember to turn to our own GOD when we encounter some tough obstacles.

A nature's law is that we reap what we sow. We take what we give. Our sincerity and effort would pay off certainly, perhaps in an imperceptible way.

So, when we really give what it takes, we would, in one day, take back what we have given.

Have you smiled today?

Be happy!!

Thinking of a better world

i find myself in love with something lately.....

i am in love with........ MUSIC.

Especially JAY CHOU'S MUSIC.

In the past, when you ask me who is my idol, i would say i myself am my own idol. But now, maybe it's sill the same, i am not sure. One thing i am sure is that i would say jay chou is my favourite singer.

Actually, listening to music is very relaxing. It can usually provoke certain feelings in us, depending on what kind of music we are listening to. And i am having this feeling now, because i have been listening to the following song, by jay chou.

Try this song if you are free. It's quite nice.

I was thinking of a question just now, "How to make this world a better place to live in?"

Better place does not refer only to peace and no war in each corner of the world. For me, it actually means more than that. A better place should be able to provide its people with happiness and joy. Peace alone does not guarantee joy.

It's not easy to create joyful atmosphere, and a better place for every single soul living on earth. Some say, war for peace, and tears for joy. We might need to put up a fight or struggle before we manage to make this world a better place. Years and years have passed, yet, is our world good enough to live in? Have we witnessed the beauty of this world? Have we created peace after all the wars that took place?

In fact, we don't really need wars and tears for peace and joy.

It's not that difficult to create peace and joy.

It's not a mission impossible.

All that is needed is our own self.

If we are sincere in making peace, we will see peace.

If we really want to have joy, we will not make our life miserable with all those worries.

Since happiness is abstract, it is usually a state of our mind. If we are optimistic enough, we will be happier. So, try to see possibilities out of impossibilities, opportunities out of adversities and inspiration out of every challenging situation, You will eventually create miracles out of obstacles.

This is exactly what we should do to lead a positive life. Be sunshine and fill your day with sunshine. Life is here to enjoy.

Speaking of peace, it's not that difficult to make peace without war. But it's not easy to create true peace, because true peace goes beyond a world without war. It's a world where everyone smiles genuinely to each other without any rivalry inside.

If we do wanna see real peace, we should put our heart and soul to work out the problems among us. Many problems can be solved without the slightest violence, or even without argument. It's just that we are often too irrational to see that truth. Humans are one of the extremely few species capable of heart-to-heart communication. Yet, why do we purposely lose this unique God-given ability by putting up a 'character mask' when we face our friends? Why do we need to fake ourselves when we communicate with each other?

Have we forgotten sincerity and honesty?

.....................

Living in a better world is many people's dream. But only a few have started working on it.

We definitely do not hope to see a beautiful world only in fantasy, a better world only in our dreams. A cluster of people have been perspiring to make this world more beautiful. Let's believe that their perspiration will be worthwhile at last.

But please, do not just believe without trying to achieve.

Feeling down

Feeling down.....

I am feeling down right now, right here....

I have actually experienced this kind of feeling countless times before, it's just that I seldom blog about my feelings.

I don't really know why I feel down. I just know that....that I feel down and helpless...

Wow, I remember I have tried cheering up a friend of mine. We were chatting online and she said she was moodless. So, I tried telling her to smile and be happy. She told me it's not easy to cheer up when one feel down. And I have to admit that she was quite right. But still, I will self-motivate and recover very soon. haha...

After all, this is what life is all about. If life is always filled with happiness, we would never treasure happiness. And guess what, I found it sort of nice to feel down, especially when we are listening to sad songs. haha... In fact, listening to songs is one way to 'cure' your bad feelings. And I think the best way out is to write our feelings out. And that's why I blog about my feelings right now.

PS: This is parts and parcels of our lives. So, don't keep feeling down when you feel down. Smile and cheer up! lol!!!

Guess what I was listening?

This Thing Called L-O-V-E

Besides our family and relatives, there must be someone who means so much to us. That is someone special to us. The Chinese have this saying as "They are our the other half."

Love is all based on the feelings....

Love...

deals with the heart...

It's like seeing rays of light in darkness when LOVE strikes

There are many girls out there,

good, nice and pretty ones....

But we will know when it's her

When the eyes meet the eyes,
when the heart beats extraordinarily faster and pumps unusually stronger,
when the body sweat unusually,
when we have much to say, yet we turn speechless,
when we want to see her face every seconds....

That's when love comes.

When love comes, we get unusually happy.....

When love comes, we feel nourished.....

When love comes, we feel on top of the world.....

When love comes, we feel that the world is ours....

Once you have found your Miss Right....

hold her hands tightly and never let her go....

hug her and warm her body with yours...

go all out to protect her...

kiss her on the cheek....

kiss her and tell her "I love you"...

When she kisses you back, she really loves you more than you can think...

So, tell her "I always love you, and I always will"...

Treasure her like an angel, because she is really the angel in your life...

Never forget to fulfill what you have promised to her....

because love is a lifelong promise...

Once you have found her, love her with all your heart and soul and care for her for the rest of your life.

And I will do exactly that, or perhaps more than that.

Thought-provoking with exams and pressure

" ~I am listening to this song by Jay Chou >> 'Return to The Past' when writing this blog post. I do not intend to multi-task, but I am just looking for some sources of inspiration to blog. As suggested by the theme of my blog, "Inspiring", anything can be the inspiration in life. Haha...... Moreover, this might enhance the indescribable 'feeling' to blog about my thoughts and opinions. However, there's one drawback for sure - I would get distracted and may commit grammatical errors.....lolx.~

~Try reading my blog with the music~ "

Wow.....

Yeah!!

Exam is finally over! Finally, the stress is off for the moment.

We should feel very relaxed and happy. We should enjoy the feeling after exam, when we have the freedom to surf the net, chat online and play computer games until late at night. The most important point is that we do not need to worry about studying.

This is what many people normally feel the second right after they submit their answer sheets on the last day of exam.

Ironically, some of us feel 'hollow' after exam. We can do anything we enjoy doing, but we have nothing to do....

Is this the right attitude we should possess?

Is exam really that stressful?

Do we study for exam? I thought we should study for self-interest and knowledge? Which is right? I do not know....

It seems that I myself study for exam too... Many of us study only when exam is around the corner, and me included. And why is it that we feel the pressure and burden when we sit for exam? Why is it that our hearts always beat faster and stronger when we face exam?

"The purpose of exam is to gauge our understanding of a topic", we are told so. But, it happens to me that scoring good grades in exam does not mean you have fully understood a certain topic. Failing an exam doesn't mean you know nothing about a topic.

When there's exam, a marking scheme comes into play. When this transpires, rigidity in our education system happens. We have to write all the keywords in exam so as to ensure that we fulfill the criteria of getting an 'A' in a subject.

KEYWORDS....

English language is so wide. Do we have only one single or several words to describe a process, or a physiological reaction that takes place in our body?

What are we learning? Keywords? or knowledge?

I have no better solution in mind other than abolishing the exam marking scheme. And would that ever happen? That's a good question to ponder on.

Next, PRESSURE. Why do we feel so tensed up during exam? Why can't we take exam as a usual practice that we do in class? Is it because of the exam-oriented society? Is that because everything on earth seems to be in favour of those with high paper qualification?

Perhaps, it's our own fault. We ourselves placed so high priority in exam that we failed to bring the best out of us. Perhaps, we are the culprit of our own failure. We are the ones who know best.

We are always on high alert if there's any enemy around. But we failed to identify the biggest enemy in us. Recognising and overcoming our inner 'enemy' takes tremendous amount of effort. But it can be achieved if we set our heart and soul to attain it!

Napoleon Hill once said, "Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve."

It's not that we are not capable of doing something. It's just that some might take longer time to complete the same task. Believe in ourselves. Forget about the pressure when we do anything. Just do our best and leave the rest to our God. It's never easy to do this, but it is not impossible.

A simplified version of Napoleon's saying, "When we believe, we can achieve."

PS: Go! Go! Go! We can achieve it!

What's happening

Wow! It has been more than a month since I last blogged. Indeed, I have been quite busy these days, and I suppose there's more to come. Plus, I wasn't in the mood of blogging. *haha*

There have been quite some happenings last month. I was in charge of the merdeka celebration at school level. Three of my classmates were chosen to be the emcees for the event. At the end of the celebration, another fourteen of us (including emcees) - as usual - went upstage and ---------- 'laung merdeka' So patriotic of us! *hahahaha* We, the committee, luckily received compliments from the teachers. And we do deserve them!

Form 6 life had been quite hectic, especially after I spend a portion of time surfing the net and blogging. So, what I wanna say is that time management is of utmost importance. And I am learning to spend quality time....... hahahaha

I do mean it. Time management is important. All of us have 24 hours a day. Time well-spent or not, it depends solely on us. People might think it's useful to be equipped with the power to freeze time. But let's think it over. Would it really help? If you are used to procrastinating, you will carry on the bad habit and leave things undone even if you have the luxury of time. If one is addicted to playing online games, will he ever give up his addiction when he has the ability to freeze time?

Oops, it sounds as if I were writing an essay on time. You can perhaps refer to it as one of your points when writing essays.......lolz....

In conclusion, you will need time management skills unless you can be like this:

Lately, I stay back at school quite often for LPS. Having joined LPS for almost 6 years, I do feel a stronger sense of belonging to it. And it's actually good to have this feeling. It keeps my spirit alive whenever I feel down.

Speaking of feeling down, it's common to sink into depression at times. Even dogs feel down occasionally.

Have you never ever felt down before?

I remember one of my friends telling me to pour out my feelings in my blog posts. But I actually prefer another means of getting rid of bad mood - by listening to music. Seriously, different people mend their broken heart by different ways. But, try to be as cheerful as I am. Be happy always. I have heard people saying, "If a problem can be solved, no need to worry about it. If a problem cannot be solved, what is the use of worrying?" That's very true. Don't endure hardships. Enjoy them. Only this can bring you further.

Guess what? I think I am getting more obsessed with Taiwan (or Korean) romance drama. I am watching "Rolling Love' now and I find it quite interesting. I guess it touches my heart, especially because the drama reflects the inner feelings of a blind, pretty girl. The story is rather unrealistic, but it is actually these unrealistic elements that give us hope to see a revamped world, and a beautiful, shining future.

The love story in these typical dramas are usually unlikely to happen in reality, but they fill my world with hopes, and my life with 'substance'. Tshey give me the hope that I still stand a chance to experience that kind of "love chemistry". They give me the hope to make my dream come true even if they're under high unlikeliness to be real.

They motivate me to strive harder. And they touch my soul.

In fact, all sorts of possibilities rise from impossibilities. All realities rise from dreams. Every success starts with a dream to succeed!

Here's the theme song of the drama "rolling love".

This song, or this type of songs for that matter, never fails to be my driving force to achieve better results. Hope you enjoy it!

Love is colour blind

Recently, I have fallen in love with an English song. It's love at first sight. It is no doubt that this song is meaningful, and I find it very soulful and nerve-soothing. "Love Is Colour Blind", a song that can really give you the peace of mind and help you relax.

Note: The first video is the original music video for the song, but it is not complete, meaning the video ends in the middle of the music. The second video is not the music video, but it is complete.

Singers:
Sarah Connor, TQ

Lyrics:
[TQ]
yeah!
what's up?
it's TQ and Sarah again
haha, right back at ya
(love is color blind)
that's right
this time we got a serious situation
and we're tryna do our parts to help
and we need your help
you know what I'm saying?
(love is color blind)
so come on!

it don't matter if you're black (yeah)
white, or yellow, if you're brown or red (it don't matter)

love is color blind (that's right, give it to em baby)

I remember when
I was a child and couldn't understand
people having fun
discriminating all the different ones
mama just used to say
when you grow up you maybe find a way
to make these people see
that everything I do comes back to me

you gotta live your life
through all the single ones to blame
you gotta live that life
just play the game and let love reign

it don't matter if you're black
white, or yellow, if you're brown or red
let's get down to that
love is color blind
you're my brother, you're my friend
all that matters in the very end (yeah)
it's to understand (yeah)
{come on TQ}
love is color blind (that's right)

[TQ]
I remember as a young boy
I watch my neighborhood go up in flames
I saw the whole thing of tears and pain
and the situation's wack in my brain
I wish I could fly away and never come back again
we need some love ya'll
we need some real dip, help from above ya'll
I mean the kids is watching
and I just can't see ya stop
I don't understand
I mean we all bleed the same blood, man
(you gotta live your life)
better than a father's dead
let's make some love baby
have some kids
(you gotta live that life)
and I don't care what color they are
or you are or we are, it's all love baby!

[Sarah + TQ adlibs]
it don't matter if you're black

you could have been my mother
you could have been my brother
what if you are my sister
if you are my father
you could have been my feller
you could have been my teacher
but if you are my friend
it would be so nice to meet ya
you could have been my mother
you could have been my brother
what if you are my sister
if you are my father
I could have been your feller
you could have been my teacher

[Sarah]
take it out to the world
tell every boy and every little girl
be proud of yourself
cause you're as good as anybody else
put away your prejudice
open your mind don't need to stick to this
try to make this of
a better place without a racial curse(?)

[TQ]

color blind, yeah

Instead of saying love is blind, why not we insert one more word in that saying? Make it "love is colour blind". Love knows no boundaries. In this world of vast difference and diversity, it's perhaps a wise option to open up our heart and rid ourselves of stereotype, pride and prejudice. It is only by this way that we could possibly make this world a better place to live in. The species of good, generous and kind souls (me included in it....hahaha) is considered endangered species. But we could do something to preserve and increase its population. Let love triumph over pride and prejudice. Let love conquer and spread to everyone's heart.

Men's best friend

If you are a Hong Kong TVB drama fan, I am pretty sure you have heard of this drama entitled "Men's best friends".

The drama revolves around two dog owners both having a pet dog. After all the stumbling blocks in their way, love sparkles and blossoms between them. And the title of this drama actually means DOGS.

Dogs are men's best friends? I would say dogs are mens' best companions. Dogs never betray us, never cheat us, but they always stay beside us listening to our grumbles and voices. Mad dogs that bite the one who feed them are exceptional in this case.

When we are down and there's no one to lend us a pair of listening ears, we sometimes end up talking to our pet (dogs or cats). As an owner to two dogs, I do this, at times. Our pet occasionally seems to know that we are sad, and more often than not, they come near us, make a cheerful expression and make us smile.

You might not understand this, but it's true at certain time. See these:

I do not mean that we can't find a true friend that stays loyal and honest to us. But then, we are human, the species with the highest intelligence quotient. And this is in fact what makes us more self-centered than any, if not many other species. No matter how loyal our friends are to us, they can't be as loyal as a pet dog. Dogs, though not all, are willing to sacrifice their lives to save us from danger, such as during encounter with thieves or mad people. But how many friends on earth are willing to do so without asking for favour in return? Face the fact! The chance of finding one is virtually ZERO!

Perhaps, the one willing to take the stab for us when someone assaults us, is our spouse and family members. I think I shall treasure my family more than ever, and I am really sorry for quarelling with my parents on the other day then. I was in bad mood and under pressure.

Sorry.......

You might agree that men's best friend/companion is dogs or cats after you see these:

P/S: The pictures are extracted from an incoming email message forwarded to me. That explains why they seem familiar to you.

SMILE!

Simply scribbling my feelings.....

We have it scientifically proven that opposite sex attractions become more prominent as we reach puberty. This is absolutely true, perhaps there is exception for those with low sex hormones concentration. lolz!!

This is a situation I have known ages ago. Many friends of mine have gone to college and got into a special relationship with the opposite gender.

As for me, I am still single, but perhaps not available so soon. I am occupied by loads of homework and the pursuit of my ambition to become a medical doctor, to get my master and even professor. My ambition is not only about treating patients in the clinic or hospital, rather, I have always wanted to join voluntary organisations to help the needy patients in countries like Africa. I always feel that material gains is not the main focus in my life. Wealth can never satisfy the needs of our souls. The spiritual satisfactions are sometimes more important than material gains. As long as we live comfortably and obtain good education, I don't mind not driving a Ferrari, not living in a bungalow, and not having abalone as weekly or even daily meals. That's my perception at the age of 18. And I certainly hope I can cling to this belief until my last breath.

On top of travelling round the world to help the needy souls, I actually want to do research work in the field of biology and medicine. Better still, I want to invent something that brings about a huge breakthrough to the medical world and win the Nobel prize. This is a dream that is not easy to come true. I sometimes doubt whether this dream is within my capabilities.

And this actually brings me to another tough question: Are there any girls on earth who can accept such a man? A man who puts so high priority on work and career.

So far, I have never seen a Malaysian win the Nobel prize (maybe there is/are such case(s), I have no idea at all). I really hope that I can make the lead and create history. But at the same time, I do not wish to sacrifice my love life.

Few days ago, we had a friend doing her presentation on whether secondary school students should fall in love and start a relationship. I think I am too occupied with my work and dreams to begin a relationship with a girl. I think I'll have to bear with this until I get into university, at least.

Love, or career? Hopefully, I can meet up my Miss Right who is willing to share my dreams.

Inspiration from Selayang Hospital.

During the period between 24th to 28th March, I have paid my first visit to a hospital, Selayang Hospital.

Should you not know why I was there for five days, here's the reason.

I have applied JPA scholarship for studying medicine. All applicants who have applied for medicine course and meet the minimum requirements would have to attend an exposure program, that's this "Program Pendedahan Kerjaya Seorang Doktor".

Since I do fulfill their requirements, there I was!

There're about 60 students also attending this program in Selayang Hospital. And we were divided into group A, B, C and D. Different groups would be visiting different departments.

I went there with two friends. And it turned out that we were all in different groups. I was in group B, Soon Yee and Jian Yeow in group A and C respectively. I did not grumble or dislike that arrangement, since fate brought us apart (did I sound overly serious? haha). In fact, I do believe in destiny and fate. In some cases, the result is all up to our destiny. But in another, it's us who should work out for our desired result. And we are not supposed to put the blame on "luck", "destiny" or "fate" if things turn out not as desired. That's just a lame way of escaping the responsibilities to be shouldered. That's my principle and I really hope I would never have it compromised.

Back to topic. My first department to visit was Orthopedics. There are more than 20 beds in the department. And the male and female patients are separated. Is this a practice in every hospitals? This practice is good in a way...haha.....

The staff nurse (That's what we call a normal nurse, because there're many different rankings among nurses. There are head nurses, staff nurses and trainee nurses. "Nurse" is just a general name) explained to us about the department and some gadgets used on patients. After that, we were left to communicate with the patients and their families, if there were any. Besides medical knowledge and experience, communicating skills is also none the less important. Doctors are simply doctors. They can't really know what happens to their patients without talking to them and digging the history of the patients in the first place. They are not God. God knows all but doctors don't.

What's more, some patients can be really emotional. You have to talk to them nicely. I had this experience there. A female patient bit a nurse there when the nurse talked to her. I was not on the spot and thus did not know what the nurse said or did to the patient. But then, we went there and tried to talk to the patient. Due to the fact that she's a Chinese and there's no Chinese nurses there, my group members asked us (the Chinese) to talk to her and find out her problems. I admitted I was being a bit busybody. I thought Chinese would be good to Chinese(ga gi lang). We asked "How are you" in Chinese but she stared at us, with blood on her hand, if not mistaken. In the end, we were proven to be useless-we could help nothing.

During this five-day visit, I had officially paid my visit to Obstetrics & Gynecology, Accident & Emergency, Surgical Department, Forensics, Orthopedics and Specialists' Clinics including urology and dermatology. These are my official visits because I also went the paediatrics without official permission with the other three new-found friends.

From this visit, I have seen the sufferings and ordeal of the patients. Some fall down from motorcycles and broke their limbs, some have their leg amputated and some are terminally ill with late stage cancer, days numbered and virtually waiting for death. I could see that death is certainly not their wish.

Right there and then, I thought, the people out there, who have ever thought of suicide upon being blown by a failure or distressed by countless bad happenings on them, never realize that the patients here are moaning and groaning with physical pain, yet praying and hoping hard to survive the ordeal and get on with life.

How could someone choose to end his life when someone else there is struggling to continue with his life?

How could we not treasure life when a tremendous number of newborns in this world die and do not have the slightest chance to see the world.

How could we not drive cautiously when many other motorists involved in accidents broke their legs, become paralyzed and regret what they did?

How could we still smoke and lead unhealthy lifestyles when the people with lung cancer and heart diseases regretted their action and swore to change their lifestyles?

We do not usually learn our lessons from other people's happenings. We tend to learn them the hard way. Do things need to be so? Ponder on that. The decision lies in your hand. After all, you are the one who decides on your life.

For me, I have decided to treasure my life and never take my life for granted. I am more determined than ever to become a dedicated doctor that can reach out to the sick.

I know that being a doctor is not merely about diagnosing and treating the patients. It's about trying his/her best and going all out to save precious lives.

Scientifically speaking, the fusion of sperm and ovum gives us our lives. But it's God who enables the fertilization process to take place. Supposedly, it's God who creates us. We are all very prized gift from Him to this world.

Should we not treasure our lives?
